The Bloodvein River

The beautiful Bloodvein River flows into the eastside of Lake Winnipeg. The river is named for its red granite veins in the rocks along the shore.

The river is a historical Native travel and fur trader route and has been designated as a Heritage River.

The river's natural appeal, numerous tumbling rapids and abundance of wildlife make the lodge an Eco-tourist's dream getaway. There are numerous natural campsites along the shore and Aboriginal paintings and carvings are an added treasure found along this centuries old route.

The Bloodvein River, as well as the Gammon River, flow through Atikaki Provincial Park. The Ojibway word "Atikaki" means "country of the caribou."

Bloodvein is only accessible by air and water, the 4,000 square kilometer park's 1,000 km of interconnected waterways are among the finest in North America.
